Questa canzone fa parte dell’album ACHTUNG BABY, registrato tra Dublino e Berlino e uscito dopo la caduta del muro di Berlino, nel 1991. Il titolo è illuminante. Ed in netto riferimento alla situazione politica europea del tempo; come la caduta del muro di Berlino è stata sì, una vittoria, ma non ha comunque risolto tutti i problemi, così la band, con questo monito, vuole illuminare i propri fans (con testi che, mai come in questo album, sono disillusi, ironici, amari, realisti) sulla realtà e sulle sue mille sfaccettature, che spesso sfuggono agli occhi illusi di chi vive di sogni, ma che di questi sogni, una volta realizzati, non sa che farsene.

Come a dire “attenzione gente, non vivete di illusioni, ma aprite gli occhi”.

Non a caso è anche l’album che contiene ONE, non una semplice canzone d’amore, ma la canzone che più in assoluto SVELA l’amore a chi lo cerca, ma cercandolo, ne perde l’essenza, frustrandone il vero significato.
